Guest guest
My feet are size five and a half wide.. but I have a narrow heel. I often jam my feet into regular 5 1/2 shoes because the heel is too wide on some of the 5 1/2 W's.. I'm also finding that small sizes are getting harder to find as women's feet, in general, are getting larger. My foot is a pes cavus foot (very high arch, hammer toes). I am about average height (5'5 " ). Doctors have told me that my feet are too small for the rest of me - I'm sure if my arches weren't as high, my feet would be bigger. As I can't wear heels or most shoes without a back strap (I can wear some, if they have a lip around the heel), shoe shopping is obviously quite stressful. I have a pilates instructor who has a pair of " Earth " shoes and raved about them; they are designed by a yoga instructor to have a " reverse heel " to help with posture. Becaue my knees tend to cave in with regular heels and my heel cords are short, I thought this reverse heel might be good for me. I ordered some earthshoes online and just got them Friday. It is a bit eearly to tell how good they will be, but one thing I can say for sure is that they are the BEST shoes I have as far as STANDING BALANCE.... I can wear them and stand for hours (I did this on Saturday at a Greek Festival) and my feet are still comfortable! The verdict is not in yet, though, on walking in them. I noticed my foot drop did kick in some w/ longer distances in these shoes but that is true with most all my shoes. I also noticed that after I took them off by legs felt all stretched out and as if I had exercised (in a good way). So, I hope they will be therapeutic... Anyone else try Earth shoes? Peace, marti
