I use it especially to exercise ankle muscles and my feet: my feet are apart about hip width, then I find my 'center'. From there I move forward and back, then side to side. This also works my leg muscles. No adverse effects, and I have been doing this one about 8 months. After 3 months of 4 times a week, I noticed a big difference in my balance - for the better.
