Medicine is arguably the first or second leading cause of death, and yet they're reading about the risks of chiropractic, vitamins, and cell phones.. Wow. Talk about a profession out of touch with itself. (:-)

Well Dr. s some of the medics in policy making positions acknowledge the problems with adverse drug events especially in the realm of treating chronic spinal pain but beyond musculoskeletal conditions there are so many natural evidence based remedies that work versus so many drugs that don’t.  The medicine men/women have had it all their way at least up until now for so long they are not accustom to being challenged as per their treatment pathways well enter the “bug in the rug,â€Â  “fly in the ointment,â€Â  “squeaky wheel,†“CAM health care provider†on the new “Health Evidence Review Commission.â€Â  For 20-years the Health Services Commission over-represented by the medical folk prioritized what conditions would be covered and what supposed evidence based treatments would be paid for  by the Oregon Health Plan and it was all about drugs, drugs, drugs and yep more drugs.  Well the 20 year old Health Services Commission has now been replaced by the new “Health Evidence Review Commission†with that CAM provider seat (me) on the commission and it’s time to “shake the apple cart†if we really wish to change how we deliver health care not just how we pay for it, it’s time to get away from all the pharmacology and I don’t care (know you don’t either) how big, “Big Pharma†is things are going to be changing.   The first shot across the bow was given by your only state association the Oregon Chiropractic Association relative to the OCA’s response to the draft “Oregon State Low Back Pain Guidelines†it had the desired effect….see attached.   It was due to the OCA’s timely response to the initial draft of this guidelines did the State reverse itself as per a focus on drug therapy for low back pain and if fact the new Oregon State Low Back Pain Guidelines only recommend “spinal manipulation†for the first four weeks as per the non-drug interventions which do not have all the down side of the pain meds! Doctors reading this if you have not joined the OCA to help us continue the fight for true health care reform well this is the time.  We desperately need your financial help, we need your help, we need your ideas, we need you to add your shoulder against that great wheel that is nearing the top.   Call the OCA office and join today please…we need you dear colleague and we need your now.  Call the OCA office to join at 503-256-1601 and if you have any trouble doing so call me on my cell at 541-231-4528 an I will personally see that you get signed up as a new member. Hey ,  Have you read 's book The Medical War Against Chiropractic yet?  I am reading now and it gives info which makes the current reading preferences for MD's look highly understandable.  's book is a must read for any DC who wants to really understand where the MD's  are historically coming from.

Perhaps it (the book, "The Medical War Against Chiropractic") should be required reading for ALL chiropractic students.....

Hi , Isn't that book incredible? I'm attempting to help the Board understand the use of it by giving a copy to each Oregon legislator! Dr. 's referencing is FABULOUS!!!! NO room for conjecture .... straight from the horse's mouth. The injustice done to the American public is mind boggling. I loved it .... have a highlighted copy on the central table in my office. Patients pick it up and look up at me with 'agast' in their eyes. I don't have to say anything more to them about their scheduling.
