Guest guest
- I work with people who have psychiatric disabilities and have known many people with physical disabilities. My experience is that most people are turned down the first time. Many more get approved the second time (paper review) and most get it on administrative appeal (appearing before an administrative judge). I cannot find any reasoning as to why some get approved quickly, slowly or at all. I have seen some bizarre juxtapositions as to cases of one person getting it and another not. I have seen mixed results from hiring attorneys who handle Social Security claims. They take a percentage of any backpay that is prescribed by Social Security, if you get it. I have never seen any studies suggesting you are more or less likely to get Social Security using an attorney as opposed to not using one. I guess, bottom line, don't give up!
