It's rare to find a child with a gradual onset without one of the parents

Hi portslake:

It can be the most common form type 1A, a number of the type 4s (typically

recessive versions) or Dejenne-Sottas disease, what used to be called type 3,

but is now thought by some to be just a severe version of 1A.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Sally

Hi there,

I have CMT type 1A and mum knew I had it when I was born just by looking at my

feet. I can't remember when I was diagnosed, early though. I have two children

with it, my daughter was diagnosed at about 2 yrs and my son was diagnosed at 3.

We all have foot drop, and bad balance and I have a very mild case of scoliosis.
