In the practice where I am at the patients are on a chewable multivitamin for the first month after surgery and then switch to the pill form. I haven't seen any problems with the transition to pill form.

Our surgeons have decided that if the pill is smaller than a dime they can swallow it whole right after surgery. If it's bigger than a dime they say cut it in half if it can be & take it in 2 pieces. Hello everyone,

I wanted to know if it is acceptable for patients to switch to pill form of vitamins. I thought it was necessary for patients to take chewable or liquid form for life after surgery. I have learned recently that some surgeons allow post op patients to take pill form cut up once they are a couple of months post op. Is anyone else doing this in practice? thank you for your feedback in advance.
