My patients really like Zumba, Tae Boe, and Sansone's walking DVDs although I personally have never used these. I believe P90X covers strength training and I do have some patients who use this, although for most it will be too advanced. I really like the book by Women's or Men's Health Big Book of Exercises available for ~$10 on Amazon. Pictures are descriptive, yet the models are wearing skimpy clothes so I usually give a disclaimer as some patients might be sensitive. I hold exercise classes such as belly dancing, dance (combo of aerobics, tae boe and Zumba) and have done a weight training class with circuits to teach lifting techniques. We are looking in to bringing a yoga and/or Zumba instructor in as well and have aerobics scheduled for the spring. We have also done Zumba DVDs as a group before.

Hi Abby,

I just tried to email you personally, but keeps bouncing back...

I am also looking for other RDs who are personal trainers. I have heard (but

have not reviewed yet) that cable " On Demand " activities has different types of

exercise segments, but have not looked recently for specific strength videos.

Best,

bariatric patients or videos online. These could be aerobic or anaerobic, but I

am really looking for ones to show basic forms of strength training exercises

using none or light weights. I can find ones on the internet, but I'd rather

suggest some that people have tried or at least gotten feedback about from their

patients.

I have recommended Sansone, she does a really good job, especially for

people that are interested in low impact, such as walking. Her videos are

usually walk videos, she has a large variety, which also incorporates resistance

exercises, she does a good job of reviewing form and modifications.

Another great resource are the Prevention workout videos, they have dancing,

yoga, resistance, targe toning and much much more. All the instructors with

these videos review basics and modifications for each workout.

Smiles!
