I have a patient claiming she is allergic to calcium citrate (Citracal.) She can

drink milk and has never had an issues. She claims to be " itchay all over " when

she takes the Ca. My nurse talked to her earlier this week and said the patient

also take narcotics and has been on antibiotics, which can cause itchiness. The

patient states her symptoms have stopped since she stopped the Ca. I'm skeptical

that she is actually allergic to Ca (maybe a filler in the supplement???) What

would you do? Put her on Ca acetate?

TIA!

She plans to try a chewable Ca citrate from Celebrate when she gets the funds

(this week.) If she can't tolerate that, my next step would be...?
