Guest guest
We see patientsPre-op 1-6 times individually or in group  (more usually due to insurance)1 “welcome group†and 1 pre-op class1 month post-op3 month 6 month9 month12 month18 month2 year and then annually. We go over this schedule at pre-op appts.   Do we have 100% compliance – no but I find the longer term appts important as they may be starting to struggle and you can catch it earlier. Guest guest
Our plan is similar to 's: Preop: 2-8 times (8 for the pts who need more education d/t insurance) Post-op: 2-3 weeks 6-8 weeks 3 months 6 months 9 months 1 year Every 6 months for rest of life We definitely don't have everyone follow up for that long but we encourage pts to check in regularly. Pts who do keep in touch generally do much better than those who surface several years later without having seen the dietitian. We charge a program fee that covers RD appts so pts don't have to go through insurance, and we tell them at the beginning that they have unlimited RD appts forever. Guest guest
Are you also collecting the BOLD databaseinformation or does the patient have a separate visit with the nurse for that? Guest guest
I see patients at the initial surgical consultation, pre-operatively about 2 weeks before the surgery in a class setting and post-operatively for a year. I see the patient at each MD appt within the first year. We also have 2 extra pre-op classes each month for those that the MD feels need that extra education. And, of course, if the insurance company requires monthly visits for approval, I do those as well. Kate Rountree SIGN UP FOR MY MONTHLY E-NEWSLETTER AT WWW.ROUNTREEDIETETICS.COM!
