Guest guest
Even a cracker will make a difference when the blood sugar is low. Orange Juice works the fastest, but then you get a nasty dip in about 20 minutes...some kind of protein will stabilize the blood sugar. Good luck to you--this is one of the easy parts to fix. low blood sugar Thank you all for your suggestions about the low blood sugar. My husband and I have joked in the past that we can always tell when (9) is hungry because he gets so crabby. Unfortunately, he tends to spiral downward because when he's really hungry he doesn't feel hungry and will actually fight eating. So we have to be really careful not to let him get too hungry because then he refuses to eat and gets very angry and anxious (and yes, his ocd stuff seems to get a little worse too). Guest guest
Do you have a fire or gas stove? Then you could just put a little KT in a teaspoon over the heat while wearing an oven mitt to protect yourself. Also, I use alpha lipoic acid if I drink sweet KT, 600 mg. Seems to work. You're saying you take it along with the KT (or other food?) and it helps to regulate a blood sugar swing? Thanks so much. -- ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J. Guest guest
Yes, alpha lipoic acid does lower blood sugar - I use it instead of diabetes medication. It is also used for radiation poisoning, which is handy because most of us are exposed to some type of radiation everyday (X-rays from TV and computers, microwaves, electromagnetic radiation, etc). Guest guest
I have a patient that continues to struggle with hypoglycemia – she had the RYGB back in 1991 open procedure. She is continuing to eat protein in each meal and choose low-glycemic foods. Does anyone have any suggestions that have worked for patients? I know that this is very typical after this kind of procedure – our surgery wants to try lactate to see if this helps (experimental way of correcting hypoglycemia).
