Guest guest
Hi Guys, I have had one ankle that has been really swollen for about 2 years now. My other ankle is now becoming involved. Does anyone have any suggestions, other than hot/cold treatments that might help? Also for the Biologic users out there, have any of you had ankle swelling that went away when you started the biologics? Thanks!
Guest guest
Yes, my right ankle and foot was so swollen and painful that I couldn't wear a shoe. After the first injection of Enbrel I saw an immediate improvement. Peggy B.
Guest guest
, I've never had ankle swelling until one week ago...both are swollen and if you recall, I started Humira about 1.5 months ago. I'm still doing great on it and one of my knees (the stubborn one) began to swell Sunday and it's gone down which has never happened without a cortisone shot. The Humira is helping my knee(s) however I now notice swelling in my ankles. I could barely get my shoes on this morning. Sherrie
Guest guest
I bought a magnetic wrap at WalMart. I don't know if it was the magnets or the fact that my ankle was so warm, the wrap was wet in the morning. Either way--it did help. Guest guest
, All of my swelling went away with Enbrel. I used to have swollen feet, ankles, knees, and fingers, but not anymore. I've been going around for the last 4-1/2 months and showing off my feet and hands and exclaiming to everyone I know, " Look, I have wrinkles. Isn't it great? " They all think I'm nuts, but that's okay. So, yes, most definitely yes, my swelling has gone away. Carol, in Vancouver, Washington

Guest guest
I think you meant hi Carol, but that's okay. I have had any real problem with giving myself the Enbrel shot. Sometimes I have a little bit of a pinch, but that is just when it first goes through the skin. Once past that, the shot doesn't hurt. The medication itself is painless. No burning, stinging, nothing. I have given myself a few bruises though because I accidentally hit a few capillaries. I also inject MTX, so I have to keep rotating the shots, so I won't inject into the same place twice. I keep trying to find new spots for the shots. When I run out of room, then I will start over again with the first places I injected in January and February. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hello Willow, I have SEDC and ankle problems as well. When I was about 14 years old I noticed my right foot was turned out and the ball on my ankle was being walked on. I'll tell you, I was in a LOT of pain. My Parents brought me to the orthopedic specialist. He precribed for me a plastic brace to support my foot. A few years later, I was precribed another brace for my other foot. For a while there I could go a few days without my braces and then wear them again. But now I'm 23 years old, I HAVE to wear my braces every single day or my feet really hurt. The down side to this is finding shoes that can support my braces. I have to wear Hiking boots or High Tops. Even with formal wear. But thats ok by me. Because I rather have to wear them instead of running the risk of hurting and damaging my ankles more. If you have further questions, please let me know. Sincerely, a > My son has an appointment with the orthopedist tomorrow. We are addressing the problem with his ankles turning under him. Does anyone have any experience with sedc/semd and joint issues? I have the medical resource center link written down for the doc but just thought some personal experience might be helpful. > Thanks, > Willow > >
Guest guest
Willow, I'm not sure if this may work, since I'm a achon, but I use to have horrible ankle pains when I was younger myself. It turned out to be that I was over running my shoes on the outside. My father was in shoe sales long ago, and he was very knowledgeable when it came to shoes. He use to get my shoes built up on the outer sides, with heals known as " CatPaws " , which for me they had a special hardened rubber insert that gave you longer lasting wear, and a shim of leather sole, to keep my feet rolled inward and not outward. Keeping up with my shoe problem was the key, because since doing that, I haven't had ankle pains since. And the same can be said for tennis shoes, once you start to over run them, get a new pair, otherwise your ankles, legs, hips and lower back are all going to start aching. So stay ahead by keeping an eye on your shoe wearing, and above all, seek professional help with a certified cobbler, they understand the wear of a shoe. I hope that your son's only problem maybe this, because it's a simple fix. RT Ankles > My son has an appointment with the orthopedist tomorrow. Guest guest
Willow, Mandy is achon but has ankle problems as well, and the best thing she had was the AFO braces. When she doesn't wear them, her foot tends to bend over and she walks on the side of her foot. Thus, the ankle bone hits the ground, and becomes very painful. THe bottom of the brace is like the bottom of a shoe, fit right to her foot. There is a cushiony material to help her walk on the brace. She then has part of the brace going on her leg, about half way up her calf. Straps hold it in place. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Cathleen, I too have skinny ankles. I call them bird ankles My arches were so high I couldn't get a shoe to fit over them. I had re-construction surgery on both feet and now I can wear flats and walk barefoot! Amazing. ....Fla.
