Guest guest
It sounds like it. I have had viruses that made my legs weak and my arms weak too. My Mom without CMT has had viruses that made her legs shaky and weak. As long as your son is fine now I would assume it was a virus that affected his legs. Guest guest
Angie, I am a bit confused. Zithromax (Azithromycin) is for infections. It won't work on a virus. (An infection, like an ear infection - a virus like a cold or the flu) One of the side effects of Zithromax is fatigue. Plus being down and out from an infection is going to take some time and rest to get back to full strength. Did your son take the entire prescribed amount for his infection? It could be the infection did not clear up totally the first time. Or it could be your son had an infection, and then may have possibly caught a virus from one of the other pre-Kers. Antibiotics can wear me out, besides having the infection, so consider that. CMT is a major fatigue issue in itself, let alone add antibiotic therapy. So, the fatigue could have made his legs extra tired. Suddenly running and playing alot may have just been too much for his body to handle after the infection - he may need some regulated activities for awhile and a thorough check-up to make sure the infection is gone. Make sure he is fully recovered from the infection and hasn't got a virus. Also, you might want to consider testing him for CMT. Early intervention can really help young children. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. He had bronchitis initially and that is why he took the Z-pack. He was recovered all but very occasional cough and then the fever returned for a day and that is when he went to play. It was the next day that really " kicked " him. He is active again, but the cough is still here with no fever. I guess I should take him in. The part about testing is another question all on its own. Is it really nessecary to start this? I'm not trying to be in denial, but my husband is a bit. After all,he has me, my 11 year old and now my 5 year old that all have it. I just hate adding all that on him. He is a great husband/father, but I just have some reservations about him dealing with all this. He knew my mother for many years before she passed away (she had diaphragm involvement with her CMT). We'll make it. One day at a time. Angie
