Guest guest
Deni, Go to a Certified Pedorthorist. And get orthotics made for inside your dry shoes. Ask about materials used, because my orthotics can be worn in water and for land use. Also, I don't use those filmsy 'watershoes'. I wear a pair of old New Balance shoes - ones that have been worn 6 mos and I have replaced with a new land pair. The combo of the pool orthotic and NB shoes is great. (The materials used for orthotics vary greatly, but realize that the softer materials are not going to be completely 'waterproof' let alone chlorine proof. It is the cholorine factor that will most likely cause faster replacement). My land orthotics are wrapped in suede, which cuts down on burning. Ask if water orthotics can be wrapped in this too. Don't let anyone talk you into hard plastic orthotics for the pool. Yes, they are waterproof, but they do not bend, are rock solid, and will hurt your feet. Same thing with hard plastic ones on land. My orthotics are a combo of cork, some rubbery stuff, and done in layers. Try to find a really good orthotist - one who will measure your feet, legs, and listen to your specific needs, not someone who will try and sell you on something. Maybe you can find an orthotist through www.cpeds.org ~ Gretchen
