Guest guest
HI , in Texas The transition from Paxil to Zoloft may not take as long as when you start from nothing. Ziv switched from Prozac to Zoloft and we found the BSE's from Zoloft lasted 6 weeks - to the day! We called her, Ziv the Zoloft Monster - she was yelling, fighting, all kind of things that are definatly not part of her personality. Your description of Avery's imaginary friends does not sound like a BSE, but perhaps her way of expressing that her thoughts are weird! Suddenly things are making her feel different, and she cant explain how come, so she's invited 'friends' along for the ride! I know that now is definatly a busy time, but try and document anything specific that she says that has your instinct concerned. For example, your mention of the Devil/Tommy telling her to kill her parents. Can you call her therapist or psychiatrist and have them make sure that the zoloft is not making her psychotic?? When you document anything in this catagorie, write down dates so that you can compare if she is becoming worse or improving.... 6 weeks is the usual length of time of adjustmenet - but everyone is different, sigh.... Do you have a blank notebook to give Avery to either draw or write down what is going on?? She can also benefit from looking back when things are easier. She can spend some time just decorating/personalizing the cover of a duo-tang. About Sunday's chat, if your mother in law is like my MIL, I would definatly need the chat just to express myself!! Actually, over the 20+ years since we met, we have matured into a loving, compasionate and understanding relationship - which is easy to maintain when she lives overseas and we are here!! My husbands brother lives in Washington State, and have no children, so our 3 are the world!! My inlaws usually visit 2-3 weeks each year, except this year we are going to them in June. Take care, lisa. Let me know if I can help. Big hugs to your kids. wendy in canada ========================================================== >I have a question. She plays with 2 little girls who are very religious, so I >guess she's getting it from them. She's said a few things that make me >worry about scrup. sigh... >I hope everyone's holidays are joyful. Guest guest
HI : Certainly there never is a good time to adjust meds :-(( When Steve has BSEs they seemed to go on for over a month. Remember they are usually a good sign that the meds will work when Avery's body has adjusted to the Zoloft. I know this doesn't necessarily make it any easier to deal with violent and other obsessions. Steve also has non-religious scrup. The treatment is the same as for religious scrup. Sometimes his scrup means he tries harder to do well at E & RP. If Avery's friends are important to her, then OCD will try to push its mean way in there. Good luck, please keep us posted on how titrating up Avery's meds goes. Take care, aloha, kathy (h) kathyh@...
