Guest guest
I have not been much of a contributor to the group, in part because I have not yet learned how to cope with learning at age 52 that I likely have CMT, and in part because I coincidently lost a kidney in January, right around the time that I was getting the CMT diagnosis. But now I have a new and rapidly changing development and thought that someone in the group might have some experience with this. I have developed a very sensitive knot on the outside of my right foot (the left foot looks like it is developing the same thing). It is on the outside edge of my foot, halfway between the heel and toes. From what I can tell it is the area where more than one tendon joins the base of the 5th metatarsal bone. It looks a bit like a bunion, except that it is in the wrong place for that. Most charts for foot pain do not even highlight this region...but it hurts like " heck " and is getting noticeably worse fairly quickly. I am on pain meds for other CMT symptoms and I can only imagine what this foot pain would be like if I were not. Has anyone else experienced this or heard anything about it? I belong to Kaiser and have requested a referral to podiatry, but that it going to take some time. A physical therapist looked at it yesterday and said he was sure that it was related to the CMT and that it was something that would get worse unless treated.
