Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Did a Ross find this morning - this one is about $5 at Ross and I really liked it - it works very well with a kickboxing rotation as the exercises are all very kickboxing inspired. To give a quick run-down - after a basic warm-up - including lots of athletic moves like squats, etc. Tracey teaches four different exercise sequences for legs, upper body/core, butt, and abs. The DVD is well chaptered so you can easily just choose a segment or two. The leg and upper body/core are done standing. No equipment is required for the leg work - it is all done with body weight and is very athletic (squats, lunges, etc.) and kickboxing inspired (roundhouse kicks, etc. done at a slower tempo so you can feel your muscles work - no momentum). For the upper body/core she uses a resistance tube - I think dumbells could be substituted - as well as body weight (planks, side planks, etc.) Also included in the upper body are some kickboxing moves to work both the upper body and the core. The butt and ab work is done on the floor - and nicely combines Pilates and kickboxing moves. The resitance tube is used for some of the lower body floorwork. Overall, I think this is a winner - good variety, minimal equipment and a nice kickboxing/athletic feel. Tracey has appeared in some of the Method videos - particularly Method Cardio Bootcamp and Jab, Kick and Burn. I like her MUCH better in this workout as she is much more subdued - she was a bit over the top in the Method workouts and those just seemed to lack structure. I'm sure part of it was b/c they were taken from TV shows, so there was a choppiness to them that couldn't be helped and a need to cram alot into a short amount of time. Aside from the workout the DVD also features a little history of the hotel where it was filmed (didn't ahve time to watch it - and I forget the name of the hotel but it is in Palm Springs, CA), upcoming releases (looks like Tracey is going to have a ballet/pilates/fusion workout coming soon) and a 7 day diet plan/menu (which is in pdf form - so you need to put your DVD into your computer to access - didn't have time for that). There are four background exercisers which includes 2 cute guys. One woman shows beginner/less intense modifications - but it is hard to see her sometimes. The overall level of the workout is probably intermediate, but I imagine it can be adjusted by putting more into the moves and using heavier weights or tubing. In this series is one other workout - Superbody Bootcamp - Burn it - which looks like an interval workout. Anyway, hope everyone has a great day!
