Guest guest
Hi everyone: I'm wondering if anyone out there can help us with a problem that seems to be emerging. Gavin has suddenly over the last few weeks been having a lot of toileting accidents and now his school is telling us that he is suddenly having real trouble focusing. He had been doing brilliantly, but suddenly can't seem to concentrate and forgets things easily. Last night for the fourth time in a month he asked us when he wouldn't have to wear AFOs anymore. We said he'd always have to wear them, the same way that people who need glasses always wear glasses. We were floored when he answered 'but that's not the same thing " . On a daily basis he seems to be fine with wearing them, but is suddenly mentioning that he doesn't want to wear them forever. Does anyone think, based on their experiences with kids with CMT, that the accidents and distraction could be a sign of stress and worrying related to his questions about the AFOs? How have others dealt with this? It seems like alot for a four year old to process...esp. the idea that something isn't going to go away... Thanks Sally
