Guest guest
ah, Kathy, there's the rub-- these are usually doctors who don't do ERP, or personnel-- although even Packer, whose Tourettes Plus site is one of the best, mentioned that is too into her diagnoses. But of course, that's , obsessed with something or other.... At the moment, she's obsessed with how many points she can rack up by being good. This is my lesson in wishing her OCD was more about perfectionism and scrupe! I am glad to see her behavior better of course, but for the first time she is constantly seeking reassurance, and of course, the opposite side-- when the points don't add up enough, falling apart. As I said, this one more my lesson-- OCD in any form is horrible. Ellen
Guest guest
HI Ellen: What you write is such a clear testimonial for the importance of treating OCD no matter what else is going on. I hope that you get a good referral to a CBT therapist for when comes home. One of the OCD moms here, who put me in touch with Steve's fantastic doc, hired an outside E & RP therapist to go to the hospital where her daughter was being treated to do E & RP as no one at the hospital knew what to do. Do you think this is an option for you? Good luck, take care, aloha, Kathy (h) kathyh@... Guest guest
Hi Ellen, I just wanted to say that changing around her Os and Cs may be a response to the meds she's recently started. Each time Kel was started on a new med, she would spent several days/weeks seemingly trying out various classic Os and Cs, plus related behaviors such as hair-pulling, then things would settle back down into her usual symptoms. The first time this happened I was frantic because not only wasn't her OCD getting any better, it seemed the med was giving her every OCD spectrum disorder as well. By the fourth time, I was (sort of) used to it.
