Statistically, CMT is much rarer than MS, even though the literature

at the CMT sites would have us believing CMT is relatively common. I

asked my neurologist why I rarely met anyone with CMT, but was

constantly running into people with MS or who had relatives with MS.

She said that MS was about 100 times more common. That may be off a

little when you actually look at the occurence of the two diseases,

but you can see why doctors may tend to make preliminary

misdiagnoses.
