Gretchen and Donna:

Thank you both for your post regarding the differences between CMT and

MS (and MD). I printed them to share with my sister. She goes to have

tests next week. She's not sure what all they will be doing as far as

testing goes. I wish I could be with her, but she lives six hours

away from me. When she was diagnosed with MS (20+ years ago) they did

what I am thinking was a CT Scan to look for lesions on the brain.

She has never talked about a blood test and a " tag " for MS.

Hopefully, she will share your info with her dr and he can give us

some answers about her original testing and subsequent diagnosis.

I'll keep you posted on what we find out.

The easiest test to rule out MS is a simple bladder test. That is what they did

for me when first diagnosing.

The major difference is MS affects the myelin sheath of the central nervous

system where CMT can affect the myelin sheath of the peripheral nervous system.

Hi,

When I married, I and my wife were perfect. After 1 year I was diagnosed with

CMT. After few years, my wife was diagnosed MS. Can't be believable. But this is

the situation, I can't understand it. It is not easy. But we are working and

have 4 sons.
