Guest guest
Since I know a few of you bike and a few of you are moms with kids who may consider a bike car I want to share one NOT to buy. The chariot – we have a cougar but since the hitch is the problem I’d stay away from this brand. The problem with the original hitch was as follows: it would loosen up on bumpy roads and hills (in fact the instructions say not to use it on bumpy roads or hills so I guess you are supposed to look at it and not use it) The second hitch hook into the rear wheel pin thingy (I don’t know what it is called) – sounds safe right. Sure until it breaks that pin sending the hitch arm into the rear tire thus causing the bike to be unrideable (my computer says this isn’t a word, but you know what I mean) until fixed. Other problems; say you want to go for a picnic or to the store with your two children in the car – there is no place to store more than a blanket in the back part and you can put 1 pound back there and that is it, so where to put the picnic (or groceries)? Right, in the lap of your child. Fun? Nope… I’ve also had no end of problems with the tires – basically they have to be pumped all the time and repaired frequently. It does make a good stroller or jogging stroller. There are options to use it for cross country skiing or Nordic walking, etc etc but for daily use as a bike car it is USELESS. (can you tell I am going through a tough time – no bike, no bikecar = me grounded and I have to find a bus path to places too far to walk, it also makes grocery shopping near impossible) I do recommend a Burley – the hitch is safe, the model we had (before it was stolen) had room for groceries in the back and easily for two children. It also seemed more roomy for the kids… Oh btw those squats I practiced last month made it so easy to bike the kids around, still tough but manageable. No shakes after a 4 mile ride and the hills were a breeze! (grounded until further notice) -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
Sorry to hear you are grounded. I hope the bike car gets fixed soon so you can be out and about again.
