Guest guest
We would check the inside of Nadia's cast to see if it were dry by feeling it with our fingers. It usually would be dry by the next day. However, if we pulled back the pink tape, it would be soaking wet JUST under there- on the fiberglass side. (Kind of strange!) I'm curious- how long has Cole been in treatment. How many casts? How old is he now? If you do not mind sharing, how have his " numbers " evolved cast to cast? Thanks!!! --------------------------------- How low will we go? Check out Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.
Guest guest
hi michelle, thanks for sharing about cole's course! here's nadia's snapshot: 4 or 6 months: i asked ped at well child check about scoliosis- he said her back looked fine (did i see it then???????) 9 months: husband and i noticed definite curve, called ped, he said not to worry, bring her in for 12 month well child check, referred to ortho diagnosed by ortho 13 months: upright 30 degrees to the left, apex T12, rvad 27, mimimal plus rotation 14 months: in kalabras brace upright, (can't remember Cobb- but not worse, moderate rotation) cast #1 15.5 months (slc): in OR fluoro supine 0-5 degrees, in cast upright 12 degrees, minimal to no rotation cast #2 18.5 months (slc): in cast upright 12 degrees, minimal to no rotation cast #3 19 months (erie): out of cast supine 22 degrees, severe rotation, RVAD irrelevant per dr. k since T12 apex falls below the bottom rib; in cast supine 6 degrees, no rotation cast #4 21 months (erie): out of cast supine 10 degrees, moderate rotation; in cast (waterproof) supine 5 degrees, almost no rotation we are due back for cast #5 at age 23 months in erie (August 15-17). since nadia is older than cole, and her growth spurt is slowing down after age 2 (in theory) i think we will opt for the most corrective cast. if dr. k says that that's plaster, then we'll go with plaster. if he says waterproof is just as good or better, then we'll go with that- because waterproof has been A LOT easier and A LOT less smelly than plaster. What does everyone think???? is anyone going to be In Erie at the same time, too? would love to meet!!! take care, abigail --------------------------------- How low will we go?
