Hi, Gang,

Well, we had our first big E/RP episode on the homefront, and I am

pleased to say that I did not wimp out. Jeanie, pay attention, here. (you,

too, Connie.) We were driving home from church, and asked me if

something she had done was alright, and I said yes. Then she asked me if

she could ask her sister if she was mad at her about it.......see, I should

have stopped it right there, but I'm new at this...........her sister said,

" yes. " Of course, this freaked her out, so she started making little hints

for reassurance.....not questions, mind you, just little comments that I am

" supposed " to acknowledge. I said nothing to two comments, then I said,

" The reason I am not responding to you, is that this is OCD. " Then she

started in on the yes, buts, and things began to escalate. By the time we

got home, she was screaming bloody murder, and we had to get her inside,

because the new neighbors were out in their yard !! LOL !! I had to

rush back to a church meeting, so I left her hysterical at the front door

(I'm so mean), told her to watch a video to calm down, and jumped into the

car and left. Thank the Lord for car phones. I immediately called my 15

year old to ask what was happening. She said was still screaming

and crying, and that (6) was freaked out. I told her to calm

down, and that I'd call back in 10 minutes. By the time I called back,

had announced that she was taking her rage upstairs to punch

pillows. By my third call, she was fine. Unbelievable!! We're still

friends. :) I would never have believed this would work.

Dana, I think your husband has OCD. :{

Carolynn, Yup, I agree about the ADD thing. Sometimes moms know

better than docs.

Hey, my TS-2 digest # 434 came in a file I couldn't open.. Wha'sup?

Well, I'd love to say more, but after reading the TS parents, OCD, and

OCD parents lists (my early morning treat), it's time to wake the

neurological pumpkins. Love ya, bon bon queen.

PS, Robbi, I'm working on the free meds thing.

Hi ,

Dana, I think your husband has OCD. :{

That's my EX-HUSBAND.......and I think so too!! So does Ava.

My current husband (oh wouldn't he love being referred to that way!) as

a matter of fact does have OCD and he thinks Tim has OCD as well.

I guess I'm either an OCD magnet or was so well trained to be OCD codependent

by my OCD mother that OCDers gravitate towards me naturally..............or

God(dess) has a wicked sense of humor because I am soooo hard for OCDers

to live with (ADHD, mucho messy, unorganized, observe the "5 second rule"

for eating food off the ground for way longer than 5 seconds etc).

OK I'll bite: what on earth is the 5-second-rule regarding eating

off the ground? Sure sounds like something from OCD's creative mind.

Kathy, it's the rule that governs how long something can be on the ground

before you can pick it up and eat it, although up here in Canada I learned

it as the ten-second rule (must be the exchange rate or the colder

winters?). After that point one falls back on my mother's words: " You can't

eat off my floors, but I've never poisoned anyone " . Once you are atuned to

looking for OCD it's everywhere!
