hi karla!! welcome to the group!

are you referring to 'mission spot training:upper body' and a'mission

spot training:lower body' ?

they are billy's newest... i have not done them. it sounds like they

are from the 'billys bootcamp' line and not the 'taebo' (cardio

kickboxing) line. the exercise that hurt your back is called a 'squat

thrust' or a 'burpee'. you need to really hold your abs/core tightly in

order to protect your back, and keep it in proper position during the

exercise. also, modify the exercise to suit yourself... for example,

do the exercise by putting your hands down onto the seat of a chair

instead of on the floor. and, as you suggested, dont use weights for a

while until you get used to the proper form for each exercise. after

doing some modifications to some of the exercises for a while, you will

get stronger and be able to fully do them. any good workout will

demonstrate modifications to most (if not all) of the exercises. keep

working at it! but be very careful to not hurt yourself. i find all

bootcamp-style workouts to be tough!

The BootCamp Elite workouts are called Mission as well. The basic set is: Mission 1: Get Started, Mission 2: Maximum Resutls, Mission 3: Rock Hard Abs and then the 8 Minute Supercharge Cardio. The add ons are: Mission Spot Training: Upper Body, Mission Spot Training: Lower Body and then Fat Blasting Cardio. Depending on where you bought them depends on if you received any of the add ons. Some of the infomercials have the add ons as bonuses, some had 's Favorite moves, some had the cookbook and some offered the cookbook with one other bonus workout.

I can't remember if we do Burpees in MST:Lower Body or not IIRC, it's mostly kicks and squats. Most likely it was either M1 or M2. I need to get my notes back updated.

But the Bootcamp workouts are strength/toning focused but we do traditional Tae Bo moves as well, just with the bands. It's not " cardio " per se but you are still doing cardio type moves, just using the bands to add the resistance that folks have been trying to use wrist and ankle weights for. This way you're doing the same thing and doing it safer. So we do our jabs, roundhouses, side kicks, punches, squats, lunges, etc. While also doing traditional strength moves such as bicep curls, military press, etc.

hi sandie !! thankyou so much for this info. wow, i feel so out of

the loop, as far as billy goes, now. i do have 'fat blasting

cardio' though ;)

you know that i luv billy and think that everything he does is great,

however, the bootcamp exercises and the bands are just not 'taebo' to

me !

i like living back in the early 2000's i guess...lol.

aahh! i see. i would use hand weight (1 lb or 1.5 lb) but never

ankle weights for cardio kickboxing. that is crazy.

anyway, i admire people who do bootcamp-style workouts. they are tough!

Thanks for the welcome Carolyn. I told my husband about the exercise

that hurt my back he said I had mistaken myself for someone young! I

will definately either modify that move or just not do it. I've had

some back problems this year and I don't want to be back at the

orthopedist office again.

Thanks,

Karla

This is a different Fat Blastig Cardio...I don't know why they gave 2 workouts the same name. We were wondering if it was the same as the one from the Fat Blasting set or not...but were happy to hear it's different. The one fromt he Fat Blasting set is much tougher since that one uses the bands.

>yu know that i luv billy and think that everything he does is great, however, the bootcamp exercises and the >bands are just not 'taebo' to me !

This is his way of giving us what we've asked for. we've asked for toning/strength workouts and he's giving them to us.

>aahh! i see. i would use hand weight (1 lb or 1.5 lb) but never ankle weights for cardio kickboxing. that is crazy.

Yes I know has heard about folks using them so I think he wants to give folks the same effect.

's set is my first try at Taebo, so I don't have anything to

compare it to. All I know is that I like his style; it seems to suit

me.
