hi colleen - ive been posting about slim in 6 workouts all of this

week. you might want to look back in the archives to see my posts

to get more info on what the workouts are like. do not believe what

infomericals say concerning weight/inches lost. if any workout could

do that then we would all be slim and trim, right? i think that

common sense would indicate that it is impossible to lose 10

inches/10 pounds in 6 days by working out for 30-50 mins. besides,

that kind of weight loss is just not healthy, if it were possible.

however, they are good workouts, as is its sequel 'slim series', but

i do not follow the rotations that beachbody suggests for them. i

alternate the slim in 6/slim series workouts with cardio workouts.

also, i play my own music as the music in the workouts is pretty

dull. the slim in 6 series starts out with a basic workout and the

workouts in the set get more challenging as they go along.

:*carolyn.

Sorry for the blank post! My 'puter acted weird.

I agree, I also think that the 10 pounds/10 days has to do with their 6 day express diet. Also, they always say UP TO...meaning if you lose 1 ounce and 1 inch it " worked " .

I second what Colleen has to say about the outrageous claims for the series. Too, I think all those supplements that are pushed along with it are completely unnecessary. Didn't really delve into the nutritional information, as I was doing Weight Watchers at the time, though the " Michi's Ladder " sheet of foods was helpful.

That said, the workouts are tough and effective. I went through the Slim in 6 series and I could see a real improvement in my cardiovascular stamina and it also nicely tightened up my legs and rear. It's pretty light on resistance training though, so after the first couple of weeks I skipped past the resistance bands part and did my own workout with dumb bells.

There's a *lot* of squats and plies in the workouts, so I don't recommend them if you have knee or lower back problems. Too, they're *way* over priced from Beach Body. I bought my set off Ebay for less than a third of the price, and it was in like new condition-- the lady selling it had found it aggravated her bad knees, but wasn't able to return it within the time period to get a refund. At the time, there were several other sets being offered under similar circumstances, for prices way under retail to oddly, way *over* retail. Buyer be ware, and be aware, I guess!

Hope this helps,Tess

I have bad knees but squats don't bother my knees at all, I guess because I do them the right way. The one exercise that does bother them is lunges but I just modify them and don't go down as deep as the exercisers on the dvd do. JenLethe Loupe <lethe.loupe@...> wrote: I second what Colleen

These workouts were the first ones I used to get back into shape 4 years ago. While I didn't lose the maximum in 6 days, I did lose quite a bit in the first week with a good diet and the workout. I lost 15 pounds in the 6 weeks which I felt was really good. You also pick up alot of muscle so your body keeps burning up the calories. I always think that diet is more important to weight loss than the exercise.

hi colleen - i hope that this didnt come off sounding snooty! im

sorry if it did. i know how seductive infomercials are !!

they make all of us throw caution to the wind...LOL.... and i commend

you for asking about the workouts before whipping out your credit

card. anyway, what i should have said is that everyone is

different... what happens to one person's body is not necessarily

going to happen to someone else. blanket statements about weight

loss made in infomercials is deceiving. read the fine print.

pretty much every workout out there says that the exercise must be

done with a solid eating plan to get results. i do wish that

beachbody didnt resort to the standard deceiving infomercial tactics.

their workouts are too good for them to need to do that. also,

the '6' in slim in 6 does not stand for 6 days... it stands for 6

weeks. i have no idea where they are coming up with their claim of

10 inches/pounds in 6 days! thats crazy!

> i do not follow the rotations that beachbody suggests for them. i

> alternate the slim in 6/slim series workouts with cardio workouts.

i wanted to add that the reason for not following the suggested

rotation for slim in 6 is that beachbody says to do the same workout

over and over, every day, for a matter of weeks. that is just too

boring for me, although there are tons of people on the beachbody

message boards who have done that, and have done it repeatedly.

also, i find that their 'every day' schedule makes me feel

over-trained (especially with slim series).

> also, i play my own music as the music in the workouts is pretty

> dull.

it is pretty much a requirement that you play your own music while

using these workouts. there is an option to turn off the boring

elevator music supplied on the dvds. it doesnt matter what music you

choose... whatever you enjoy... because debbie siebers doesnt always

follow a standard beat while working out.

> the slim in 6 series starts out with a basic workout and the

> workouts in the set get more challenging as they go along.

i also wanted to say that these workouts use strength training

exercises... lots of squats and lunges for the lower body... the

standard exercises for the upper body, like bicep curls for example,

and also ab work. there is not much cardio in them, except for some

jogging on the spot here and there, however doing lunges, for

example, and compounding exercises can really raise the heartrate and

produce a cardio effect. alot of reps per exercise are done and very

light weight is used (dumbells or body weight and/or resistance band)

i hope that this gives you more info to decide...

ha! it is too bad that beachbody feels the need to be like that...

all of their workouts and instructors are quite good !

i totally agree, ive never, ever bought those supplements from

beachbody.

yes, i agree that the michi guidelines are good. btw, who the heck

is michi anyway??

good point.

i never buy from beachbody unless they are having a sale, and i go

through ebates.com for an additional 15% off.

also watch out for bootleg dvds being sold on ebay (copies of originals)
