Guest guest
Hi Kerry, I don't do full lunges because I don't trust my knees... maybe after I lose some weight I will try to go down deeper for now I only go down part of the way. For some reason squats don't bother my knees at all. I always stick out my butt when I do them instead of bending my knees over my ankles, so I guess I'm doing them the right way. Take care of your knee, you don't want it to get any worse! Guest guest
Hi Jen, You are smart working up slowly with your workouts, only doing as much as you feel comfortable with. Squats don't seem to bother me either, I'm very conscious about sticking my butt out and keeping my knees behind my toes. It was the leg presses on the step that got to me, I tried to advance too soon. Now I find the standing quad stretch bothers me as well. Someone on another list suggested I do it lying on my stomach. With this method you have to do a pelvic tuck and keep that at all times while you reach behind for your foot keeping your knees together while doing this. I'm wondering if I've lost my form while doing the standing quad stretch and this is where the problem lies. I'll let you know how it goes with the lying quad stretch. Guest guest
How as the lying quad stretch? I can't stretch my quads because it would definately bother my knees too much. Guest guest
I'm kind of chicken to try it. LOL! The library called and they have my book in Knee Pain - A Self Help Guide. I haven't been exercising very much, some walking; I was waiting for the book first. I'll pick it up this morning and let you know what it says. Noticed when I got up last night for a bathroom trip that my knee cracked when I turned to get into bed. Then it cracked when I straightened it a couple of times. Strange. So what do you do about your quads, you can't stretch them at all, or have you found another way around the problem? Guest guest
The cracks you here is just air in the joints, no big deal and not a problem. For my quads I lift my leg behind me (bending at the knee) but I don't grab my foot or ankle for a bigger stretch, don't want to have more knee problems. Guest guest
OK, thanks, my knee don't usually crack so much all at once, I had wondered if I'd done something to it. I'm going to try your version of a quad stretch next time I need to. Thanks, Kerry Jen wrote: | The cracks you here is just air in the joints, no | big deal and not a problem. | | For my quads I lift my leg behind me (bending at | the knee) but I don't grab my foot or ankle for a | bigger stretch, don't want to have more knee problems. | | Jen
