casting vs. bracing

As some of you are aware from my pervious posting (caring for a

child

in a brace/cast), we have just begun our Scoliosis journey with a

Boston brace. Since joining this group, we have been doing a lot of

reading and heard some very interesting stories about casting. We

are

going to Caleb's Ped. Ortho. on the 14th for x-rays in his brace.

At

that app't, we (or I should say " I " as my husband will be gone by

then) want to seriouly discuss casting. I would like to go into the

app't having a good idea of the pro's and con's of the day-to-day

care

aspect as opposed to just the medical aspect. I want to feel like I

have a good idea of what I would be getting into caring for a child

in

a cast. Of course if you want to share specifics other than care, I

am wide open. The more I know, the more effetive I will be at

working

w/ our Dr. to make good decisions for Caleb. Please don't be shy w/

the unpleasantness of either. I want to do what's best for Caleb

even if it means more work for me.

All of that to say, I would love to hear from anyone, but especially

from those who started w/ a brace and then went to casting. I want

to

compare the upkeep of each and hear specific reasons for the

decisions.

Thanks so much,

Jenni, Caleb's mom
