Guest guest
Well, I just got back from the doctors office. He thinks I have a herniated disc in my neck. I'm going to have to go for an MRI to find out specifically which one. So anyway, he suggested steriods and physical therapy for now and then see how it heals. I told him I've got the physical therapy covered. I'm already doing all of the exercises they gave me in physical therapy before, just adding weight instead of breaking the bands like I did before. (Yes, I broke the bands at PT. Hey, when it wasn't long enough to go to the full range of motion, I couldn't help it. They got the hint and changed to weights. LOL) So he prescribed some steriods and we're hoping they work, cause I'm not doing surgery. If nothing else, I'm going to take advantage of this week of roids to build some muscle...hehe. Guest guest
Ouch Tonya, that sounds painful. How long do you have to wait for your MRI? It's a good thing you have the exercises you did in PT before; I'm sure that helps a lot. Good luck, I hope you don't have to have surgery. Guest guest
I'm not having surgery, no matter what the doctor says. I've known too many people who have had it and there backs were more messed up afterward then they were before. I have a high pain tolerance (Walked around on a knee with every ligament and tendon torn for 3 months before they figured out what was wrong and did surgery, cut a cast off a broken ankle and put on 4" heels to work a wrestling match, and gave birth with nothing for pain, for examples), so I can handle the pain much better then I can handle not being able to workout. Guest guest
They should be calling me to schedule the MRI this week. As for the PT, I'm not doing those pansy exercises. They aren't enough to even feel. When I went through PT before, they had to move me to a more normal weight routine from the PT because I broke their bands because my range of motion and strength is a lot higher then what is normal for PT. Then the exercises they gave me for PT were just your basic back exercises, lat pulldowns, rows, etc. I didn't do the ones that hurt last week because I hadn't seen the doctor yet. Now that he's told me to do PT, I'll add the rows back in, but lighten up from my normal weights. The rest of PT was stretching and I already stretch daily, so I don't see much change in doing that. Guest guest
I hope you get in for the MRI quickly. Sounds like you know what you are doing, so that is good. Get better soon, Kerry Tonya wrote: They should be calling me to schedule the MRI this week. As for the PT, I'm not doing those pansy exercises. They aren't enough to even feel.
