Guest guest
Hi everyone, it's here from Australia. Just to let you know that and I just returned from London last week for his second cast. Well, three weeks before we left, I made an appointment with the Australian ortho, who didn't believe the amount of correction so ordered an x-ray, which showed s curve at 35 degrees. Three weeks later, in London the day before his POP application, he had another x-ray, showing the curve at 50 something degrees!!! Is that right? Does that happen? My gut feeling is saying it doesn't!!!!!! Anyway, correction was achieved back to 39 degrees. He did just have a major growth spurt. I am so concerned he is not getting appropriate treatment. Anyway, my second question is this, s current cast is HUGE, shorter and a lot roomier. I can fit my whole hand up underneath and touch his curve with my hand. (If he bends over on all fours, does that make sense?) Does this sound like a very bad scenario to everyone else, or is it just me??? I asked if they used the modified risser frame, as the procedure took less than an hour, and he said he couldn't get enough correction, so got four people to pull (two on each end) and the surgeon manipulated his curve like that. I asked if he could still perform the EDF technique like that, and he confirmed....Absolutley. I told him about the AMIL frame, and he is very interested in it and would like me to send him some literature on it. Also, we got rejected on our Australian grant application, which means I have a reallly long road of convincing Australian orthos to use this technique. I am feeling so dejected for my little boy. If anyone out there has a testimonial (thankyou to everyone who sent theirs, they are all logged away for our attack!!!) about the success of the early treatment process, is there any chance you would be interested in sending me a copy to push this cause in Australia. Sorry this post is Soooooo long. I am just so mad!
