Guest guest
Dear Joni, You really should print out your letter to the list and show it to your son's therapist. While it is understandable that some of the things she asks of the family will need practice and may be a bit unnatural to you at first, this seems excessive - and unnecessary. I am also a clinical social worker and would never ask a family in crisis to take on such a huge assignment! That is adding stress on top of stress! It sounds like SHE is needing some reassurance that her way of approaching the OCd is correct and relevant. That's unnecessary, as once they start ERP and things get rolling, your son's lessening degrees of anxiety in those specific situations will speak for itself. Trust your gut feelings - you know yourself and your son better than anyone else will. Gail in N'Awlins
