Saturday's strength: Cathe / Pure Strength

I just goe done w/ Cathe's Pure Strength for upper body. I did both programs minus the back becuz mine has been really funny lately. I'm going to skip working it strong for awhile and hope it gets better soon. I think when I did p90x chest and back is when it started acting funny. It just kind of throbs / aches but not all the time. ANYWAY,, I enjoyed the workout, I really like her pure strength series, the workouts fly and I feel good and worked afterwards. I did the ab section as well, but I skipped the lower back part and continued to do crunches and bicycles. I was up at 4:00 this morning for my workout. It took me 30 minutes to get started though. Then my youngest son woke at 5:30..stinker.. Dad is out hunting so I will have to try to get my cardio in this morning when he naps. Anyway, happy Saturday everyone! I have a baby shower to go to for dh's cousin. I'm not excited about it at all, especially not liking the thought of dragging my wild boys to it.. Oh well. There will be good food anyway..ha..ha..

Sorry to hear about your back, hope it feels better soon. Where does it hurt upper, or lower back?

You're such a sweetey Carolyn :)Trust me just becuz I'm doing good now getting up doesn't mean I will be in a month or so.. The time change has helped me get up. I got up at 4:00, but I didn't start my workout until close to 5. I was dragging butt..LOL...

Thanks about my back, I think I had better stay away from high intensity for awhile. I just did Slammin Sports Cardio w/ Mindy and it was fine until I had to hop on both of my legs. It's too jarring for it, I guess. Tomorrow, I think i will take it a bit easier.. I'd like to try butts & guts, and then a short cardio workout. We'll see though, maybe I'll take it even lighter.

that you have WAY more motivation and commitment than i have :/

i feel for you! i dont like baby/wedding showers either. and

taking 2 crazy boys to one?! oh my!

Thanks Kerry. It's in the lower back. Who knows how I strained it. I'm sure within time I will be 100%, I just don't want to stop working out altogether or I will lose motivtion and have a hard time picking it back up. For now I will stay away from core exercises that focus on the back, back exercises, and high impact! We'll see how it goes. Thanks for your concern. You guys are all great :)

Great workout! Sorry to hear about your back. Definitely take it easy and maybe stretch it out to loosen up the sore muscles. What exercises did you do in P90X that you think might have hurt it?

4am? Now I really feel guilty for staying in bed until noon on the weekends! LOL

I so feel for you Darcy.... Speaking of stretching, I have the DVD AM/PM Stretch and it is 2 workouts 30 minutes each of an entire stretch workout, I've used it when I've been extra sore and it helps so much. I agree with Tonya, make sure you stretch that back. Keeping your hamstrings loosed up will also help your back to relax a bit.

Thanks Tonya. I'm really not sure what I do, it could have been anything. In that particular workout there are about 300 push-ups..LOL.. Then he does some rows and " lawnmowers " he calls them. I went quite heavy. Otherwise, when my son is in bed I carry him into bed, I lean over really far w/ him in my arms and try to drop him down as gently as I can. Well he's kind of heavy and it's a very awkward thing to do. I could have done it then too. Hard telling..

It's not getting any worse. Thank Gawd. It's still pretty sore though. I am thinking I will try some stretchign maybe. Never n my life have I don't just a stretching workout..LOL.. first time for everything :) Can't wait to be able to do something " regular " again. You don't know how much you want to exercise until it's simply not an option.

Tell me about it. I thank God daily that I have a high tolerance for pain so I can workout through this disc issue, otherwise I'd be going nuts!
