Guest guest
Hi Sue, From my understanding and experience with Santi it seems that the hernias are already there and the pressure just makes them come out more often. Santi also had a ingenial hernia at age 2 right before we were to have his first cast. They operated and tightened the tissue in the whole hernia area making it extra strong. The broken tissue inside when (from what my doc said) they are so little, often is there at birth, but something makes it worsen, might be from the pressure from the cast or brace etc. He said that casting or bracing should not cause the hernia. The surgery was very easy for Santi, didn´t even stay a night in the hospital. Lasted about 45 minutes to an hour, and he never complained about any pain. Another interesting point my doc said is that depending on the side of the first hernia, often will be a sign if another hernia will appear on the other side. I cannot remeber which side is more apt to have one on the other side, but time will show for Santi if another one comes out, his was also on his right side. Well that is just from my own experience, I hope all goes well with . Take care and Happy holidays, Kelli and Santiago suziblui <suziblui@...> wrote: Hello, Just wondering, about hernias caused from casting? had one on his right side about 2 years ago, prior to all his braces and casting. He got his first cast put on in early October at Erie, and I just noticed that he has a lump on on his left side now. The cast is on so tight,is it possible that the cast can be causing it?
