Guest guest
hi everyone! today i did the floor aerobics workout on 'cardio collectibles' with christie taylor. the dvd contains a warmup (christie uses a step, the 2 backgrounders dont), a step workout, a floor workout and a cooldown. also included is the 'step master' and a few clips of christie and friends filming the workouts. i did the warmup (7 mins), floor (32 mins) and cooldown (4 mins). [43 mins] i started to watch the step master before the workout, but didnt have a clue what she was doing so i skipped it. the step master is an additional 10 mins and shows christie running through the combos at a slow pace, with her back to the camera. this will be good to watch before the step workout, but i didnt need it in order to do the floor routine. i will go back and look it now that ive done the workout and it will make more sense. so, the workout includes 4 combos, which christie TIFTs (takes it from the top), so if you dont like repetition, then dont get this workout (there are ALOT of ham curls as well). personally i enjoyed the repetition, not tiring of it until the very last TIFT, which was worked out perfectly. the choreo is not dancey, but still contains lots of interesting footwork with hops, pivots and spins and is more on the athletic side so i do recommend having some experience. christie's 'beginner' dvd is called 'mission possible' and is an excellent place to start... i really enjoy those workouts as well and they are probably why i can do this one workout. so far, i rate 'cardio collectibles' at upper-intermediate. at the beginning of the dvd, christie announces that the dvd is intermediate/advanced. also, there is no jumping in the workout and one can leave out bounces and hops to make the workout very low impact. christie is an excellent teacher. well known for training instructors, her cueing is excellent and she makes the steps easy to learn by adding on at the right moments. i did have to leave out a few turns here or there so that i could continue to see the tv... i will add them in another time. my only criticism is one backgrounder could have shown modifications, staying down at the basic choreo. the music was good, the choreo was fun, christie and friends were good to workout with. i had a smile on my face and was laughing at times while i did this workout :) collagevideo says that the step workout has less complex combos, so from the sounds of it, i shouldnt have any problem with it... yay! i dont mind slipping in a modification here or there in a workout, but i hate being left standing, staring, totally lost. this workout was a pleasant surprise :*carolyn.
