Sorry to be so slow to respond to this but I just wanted to note that

there is at least ONE good reason for women not to train exactly like

a man and that's our build. Several years ago, I was happily going

along and training like a guy then injured my knees, because my

quads were so strong that they overpowered my inner thigh muscles and

were yanking my kneecap out of its proper alignment. I wound up

wrenching my ligaments badly, too.

My orthopedic doctor says that it's common for women to have knee

problems because our hips are wider, etc. and said that every woman

should know that it's imperative that she do EXTRA work on her inner

thigh muscles not just for cosmetic reasons but for very real

structural reasons.

I had these strong quads and hamstrings and had been working my inner

thighs but just not doing enough, it seems, because I got injured.

I have a good friend that's a long time powerlifter and also the

manager of the gym where I work-out and he doesn't do a fraction of

the exercises that I do for my inner thigh; he considers that covered

in some of the general exercises that he does and he's never had a problem.

Me, I know that if I skip working my inner thigh, then I risk having

the pain start up again so I work them regularly and not just to look

good in shorts. It's a matter of survival.

We're built different and I don't think we can do things exactly like

the guys. I certainly can't eat the same amount of calories that a

big guy does when he's working out, like the recommend on the www-

MuscleNOW-com list at groups, nor do I expect to take the same

vitamins and minerals so why should the work-out be exactly the same?

But that's just my experience...
