I recently purchased some

Boronia oil...3% in jojoba. I have not the slightest idea what to do

with this stuff. The Soap Dish talked about how amazing the scent

is...I just smell a slight dank smell. How does one use this EXPENSIVE

product? Thanks for the help. Pam

Pam Hi

Hmmm.... that doesn't sound right at all.... Where did you purchase this ???

Was it the soap dish or somewhere else? Boronia is like heaven on

earth.(Mandy's description)... and is very expensive as you say ..Arctander

describes the essence darkgreen, sweet tealike, slightly spicy-herbaceous

(reminiscent of cinnamon and tobacco leaf) The main body notes are tremendously

rich and tenaceous floral undertone of warm woody sweet character. I bought

mine directly from Australia and it is faboo. I have just gone and smelt it

again... no dank smell gawjus full and as above and very intense that gets

better on dilution.

Also Boronia is one of the few if even the only flower absolute that contains

Ionones

It is very often cut and adulterated which if feel this might be the case of

yours sadly....

There are lists of suppliers in the files..... till you are better able to

discern I gently recommend that you buy from there. These suppliers have the

backing of the guild and group as being trustworthy and offering quality.. they

have to submit before they are allowed to advertise on Thursdays and you will be

safe......

If you have the right stuff for some it is a perfume in itself or you can

build around it to exalt it. It can be used very effectively with fruit notes ie

plum, peach so you could add some floral that have some of that in its notes ie

osmanthus or tincture dried fruits. and add... likes sandalwood, mimosa and

cassie but really you should play with it yourself ... get to know it do a

organoleptic and drydown study.... see where it takes you ...listen to its

notes. *:-D.

-Janita, thank you for such a nice response...I bought the Boronia 3%

and Murumuru Butter from New Directions, Australia. I figure they are

a good company because I have bought other oils from them for

years...I kinda think I just to not have the " nose " to apprciate this

oil and was hoping for some guidance, before I ruin the stuff! The

oil is very bright yellow, kinda like curry or calendula color. Am I

going to be restricted in the " type " of perfume I try to make since

it is a 3% delution in Jojoba? I appreciate the help....thanks. Pam

-Thank you again for your time and suggestion...I had a hunch I would

have to make an oil based product since this is in jojoba oil. I have

three ounces of boronia so I will follow your advice and just work

with part of it. I will look through the archives, too. I will report

back. Thanks again. You have pointed me in the right

direction..that is what I was hoping to receive from this group.

Pam, this is interesting. I also purchased a 3%Boronia dilution from

the same Australian company recently. I also found it to be similar to

your description (in fact, almost scentless) and was questioning my own

nose since I have heard such wonderful things about it. Interestingly I

also ordered some neroli and tuberose in the 3% dilution and found them

to be very strong. So now I'm wondering... Think I might email them

and ask about it. I'm glad you shared!

Cheers,

Alis
