Guest guest
Luna, I'm sorry, too, that you had such a hassle. I didn't know that Target used Amazon to fulfil their orders, but it makes sense in connection with a problem I just had. Searching Amazon, I found a listing for the 6-volume set of Guenther's " Essential Oils " books for $270.84, sold by Amazon's " Warehouse Deals " division. It said 6-volume set, and the ISBN was correct, so I figured it was legit. They said it was an ex-libris set, maybe dented or mismatched. So, I ordered it. They sure shipped my one book fast! Yes, only one arrived, although the included invoice still said " 6 Volume Set " . I called to ask where the other 5 were, and was told that the complete set wasn't available any more, so all they could do was refund my money, they couldn't send me the whole set as I ordered it. I asked why it showed as available when I ordered it, as the listing before my order said " one available at this price " , and after my order, they were all back up to $750 & up. And, even as I was on the phone, I looked to see that there are still several sets available. I was told the ones still available were the full-price ones, and that they could not fulfil my order for the set unless I paid up to those set prices. I'd rather have the set than a refund, but not at a bait-and-switch price, so I got a refund and I'm sending this volume back. After all this, I looked at the review on the book's listing page, and they've done this before. The previous sucker had the same thing happen, and when they requested a re-ship of the correct item, they just got a different single volume. The person I talked with knew right away that would happen, she even said so & that was why she wouldn't even try anything but a refund. Anyway, I could go on about the stupidity of this....but mainly, I want to be sure to let folks here know that when my single volume gets back to them, there will likely be a " new " listing for the set, so don't be fooled! Suddenly, I hear my dad in my head " if it sounds too good to be true..... " Strength & Wisdom, leavesofjoy / Micah www.al-kemi.com

I can't comment on ordering from Target because I never have but it would seem to me that if they reimbursed you, they must of believed that you never received the book and therefore should honor the price but then again, I have never Not received something I ordered either. As for Amazon, I'm the one who alerted the group to check out Amazons price. I bought mine for 178.00 I took advantage of their free shipping, I was told it could take up to a week w/USPS and that was fine with me. I received a tracking # and I tracked it the whole time . The day it arrived I waited for my mail carrier because she has been known to leave things at the door that won't fit in the mail box , I didn't want to chance it. The only other thing would of been to instruct them to not leave any pkg., that it is to be picked up at the post office . Now for what is known as the " Perfumers Bible " Arctanders book! I had always heard so much about it through this group, the ads would be posted for Allured, the publishers of the book ( Anya worked hard to get the publishers to separate the set so the members of this group wouldn't have to buy the ones that deal with synthetics) and I would just wished I could afford it *sigh* but thought I'd never get to even look at it! much less own it. It is expensive! still even with the price I ended up paying for it. I have Mandy Aftels book Essence and Alchemy beautifully written, informative and poetic. I carried that book everywhere! if this book could be viewed as the glory... Arctanders book would be the guts! very straight forward and to the point. I will say I thought it would be bigger/heavier but in reading it I believe it is a good reference book with very easy access to what info. a perfumer would be looking for. Sure Luna ,there are alot of good books out there! this book isn't a must have. I Think Anya was going to write a book, someday? but I don't know how thats going.
