Hi Adam.....

The first time I saw this term back when, I googled it....

le sillage [see yazh] (from one of the sites)...

The site listed the definition as: wake (of a boat), slipstream, trail

I immediately thought of a woman at work who left a wake of scent

(synth), whenever she passed...

But I'm sure she was an extreme, and it has levels of presence...<G>....

Thanks . Actually, " wake " is one of the French definitions.

Dullard that I often am, it was lost on me.

I say sillage as silly-ahg, as if there were an i in the word. I'm

from texas though, and we generally don't know how to pronounce

things, especially the word " nucular " ...

Hi Adam - I discussed this with you here: message # 23343 Marcia also

wrote a nice piece on it, but I can't find that for some reason.

Anya, thanks. I thought I'd asked before. Before I ask any question I

look it up in the archives. I've done so at least a dozen times. I've

never once been able to find what I'm looking for. The problem is

there's just too much. " Sillage " brought up almost 1000 hits. The

advanced search doesn't help much because I have no idea what

parameters I'm looking for. %-)

Like with any search, you have to narrow the parameters. Don't bother

with the advance search, I never use it (didn't know it existed!) and I

can usually find stuff. Perhaps use *adam sillage* if you remember you

were involved in a thread about it before. i used *marcia sillage*

because i remember she wrote a nice piece on it. oddly, my search didn't

turn up that message, lol. Perhaps a search of *pronounce sillage*. Two

or three terms narrow the search results.

II thought Bourbanais wrote the first reasonable explanation about Le

Sillage 1st the wake of a boat.

Cheers
