Hi Ricki, I have a sculpting stick from the Firm's workout series...same thing as a body bar, I would think. Exercising with 5 lb hand weights in each hand isn't the same as using a 12 lb body bar - that's as if you are using 12 lb hand weights in each hand JMO Maybe you can get a 9 lb body bar and use the 12 lb later when you are used to the 9 lb bar. Hi, Thanks for the suggestion - I think that's what I'll do. By the way, when it lived in Colorado driving in the snow make me a nervous wreck too... Hi Ricki,

Sometimes I find somethings to be easier with a body

bar/barbell and some things are harder - I think it

has to do with the weight distribution and range of

motion.

Hi Donna, I just returned from the Sports Authority and exchanged my 12 lb bar for a 9 lb bar. I tried it out and it's much more workable, I like the website so much I added it to my favorites bar. i dont have a body bar so im wondering if you could clarify this....

are you saying that a 12 lb bar equals 24 pounds (2x12lbs) in dumbells??

12 pounds should be equal to 12 pounds... the bar will feel a bit

different from the dumbells of equal weight because the weight is

distributed differently.

Carolyn, I don't think so - you move the bar differently - and sometimes a lot more quickly than you do the weights - will keep you informed about how the lighter bar works out... Ricki was saying that she uses 5 lb hand weights and she thought that a 12 lb bar wouldn't be too hard...but if you are using a 12 lb bar when you are used to a 5 lb hand weight then that is a BIG difference. Do you understand what I mean? It doesn't double the weight. When you are only using 5 lbs in each hand that doesn't mean that you are doing bicep curls with 10 lbs...it is still only 5 lbs.
