Exercising with 5 lb hand weights in each hand isn't the same as using a 12 lb body bar - that's as if you are using 12 lb hand weights in each hand JMO Maybe you can get a 9 lb body bar and use the 12 lb later when you are used to the 9 lb bar. I tried it out and it's much more workable, I like the website so much I added it to my favorites bar. Do you understand what I mean? It doesn't double the weight. When you are only using 5 lbs in each hand that doesn't mean that you are doing bicep curls with 10 lbs...it is still only 5 lbs.
