Guest guest
I did Power Half-Hour! I've taken on board what you've all said and definitely will add 3 strength workouts a week. I suppose I already knew that I should, but needed the push of being told! I found the Power Hour DVD quite a mess on, because I didn't know what weights I would need for each body part. Then the weights needed fetching from where I had hidden them away (out of sight, out of mind!). I didn't do the lunges, biceps, triceps or abs sections though. I had really had enough by then and my excuse was that I had already done lots of compound moves in the other sections. OK, I chickened out, but it was definitely a step in the right direction! I would like to check in with you all that I actually do 3 strength workouts per week for my upper and lower body. That is my 2007 plan/resolution. I have the feeling that if I'm not answerable to someone for doing them then they won't get done! Feel free to nag! I am going to add a sentence to my signature, to remind myself and you all what my intention is. (3 upper/lower body strength per week!) Guest guest
Hi Good going on that first step! Splitting an hour long workout into two sessions is definately a good idea, especially to ease into a routine. I didn't pop in before, but I agree with everyone's recommendations to add 3 strength sessions in a week. Power Yoga and challenging Pilates or other routines where you are working your core and supporting your body weight (like stability ball workouts, etc.) count for me, too. Take care, Donna --- <jeandishcloth@...> wrote: > I did Power Half-Hour! Guest guest
Good job Jean!!! You've got a good start to your new goals! I think you will find out quickly that you will come to like stregnth training. It does take a few workouts to know what weight is perfect for you for each body part. It won't take long and you will be able to figure it all out. Keep up the great work! DarcyOn 12/24/06, <jeandishcloth@...> wrote: I did Power Half-Hour! Guest guest
why don't you make it easy on yourself? I think you should go and get Kathy 's Lift Weights to Lose Weight, because it is only 20 minutes long and it isn't as hard-core and the Half hour workouts. Or buy a strength training dvd that is short like Kathy 's, otherwise I think that you will get too frustrated and give up. You really NEED the strength training! If you don't get it, you will end up like my aunt who is now 75 yrs young, she does cardio but no strength training...so she looks flabby because she has no muscle tone. I gave her Kathy 's workouts and sent her a stability ball and dvd for Christmas. Trying to help, Jen <jeandishcloth@...> wrote: I did Power Half-Hour! Guest guest
Next time around really try to do the full workout and modify if you need to. I did the routine for two weeks and got very good results. In fact, I'll probably do the routine again in January. Good luckVennittaOn 12/24/06, <jeandishcloth@...> wrote: I did Power Half-Hour!
