Guest guest
Ambrosia, I'll ask my soaping buddies what they do with it. I know that it is antiseptic and I am wanting to do a 'robbers blend' or 'thieves blend' set of soaps for flu season. Head to toe products. Oddly, buying those blended imho is more expensive than if you had each ingredient by itself. there is a myrrh that seems to be well liked and if I find it I'll post the combo. evie
Guest guest
<What do you blend with myrrh Alwyn? I use it as an antiseptic, but in perfumes I find it just reminds me of graphite pencils and mud. It seems to give a muddy metallic not to anything I blend it with.... I keep on trying because there are so many " frankincense and myrrh " blends in ancient literature.. but I just can't find anything it really seems to go with.... Ambrosia http://www.perfumeb ynature.com. au> The myrhh CO2 is really nice, balsamic, warm, smooth, a touch spicy. I was never very big on myrhh oil, it reminded me of rubber, till I ran into the CO2. I would check it out. I made the " Parfum de Maroc " formula in Mandy Aftel's Aroma, and that has myrhh as the base. The blend also includes saffron, which I find blends beautifully with the myrhh. Myrrh is difficult, I use it in small amounts, it can over power. incense on the other hand goes into almost everything I make! Myrrh is something I love by itself, the lingering on the skin the serious ancient memory sense. I have distilled it before and the house became an Egyptian temple... I would like to hear what others blend it with. I know rose does well , and spice notes, any other suggestions? On styrax I have used to good effect with other earthy base notes to bring a " freshness " to them. Especially for a mens scent. In small amounts that resiny terp scent can add something good to mix, like how patchouli does with Jasmine or rose , styrax can do with oakmoss and vertiver. But too much and you are in trouble. I just getting into Mastic right now , anyone else worked this into a blend? Guest guest
Warm but serious...it has a kind melancholy to it. myrrh mythology: " The ancient Greeks attributed myrrh’s teardrop shape to Myrrha, the daughter of the Syrian King Thesis. Myrrha refused to worship the goddess Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. Aphrodite was angered by Myrrha’s blasphemy and tricked Myrrha into committing incest with her father. Thesis realized what he had done and threatened to kill his daughter. The Gods decided to transform Myrrha into the Myrrh tree to save her. The tear drop resin is said to symbolise Myrrha’s sorrow. Another classical myth concerning myrrh was of the Mother of Adonis being changed into Myrrh. "
