January update

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to drop a note to update everyone on my grandmother's

condition- she's finished with her January appointments, and we got a

little news. We went to see the hematologist yesterday, and she did a

CBC on her, and found that her white count is up some, so whatever

was wrong is getting better. Her count had been 13,100, and normal is

13,500. I don't know what yesterday's reading was, she just said it

was improving. The doctor said that the drop could have been the

result of an infection somewhere; she had been dealing with a bladder

infection a few weeks before the first test, so it could have been

that.

Her weight has also finally stabilized- she weighed the same thing

today that she did a month ago, so that's good. And, even though

being sick is certainly not a good way to lose weight, in her case,

it wasn't really harmful because she was overweight to start with.

Her fibromyalgia seems to be a little better; her pain is not as

frequent or as intense, and she's sleeping a little more each night,

as well as a nap or two during the day. It took a lot of convincing

to get her to take naps during the day, but she has finally decided

it's not such a bad idea.

So,for now, the worst two things to deal with are the continuing

weakness and her anxiety. She worries a lot and stays nervous a lot

of the time. Her middle son is going through some financial problems

as well as some health problems (he had a heart attack just under a

year ago) and naturally, she's concerned. But, a couple of things

have happened recently that may resolve some of this. Time will tell.

Oh, and by the way, thanks to Dorothy and some of the others that

posted fibromyalgia information shortly after I mentioned her

diagnosis; I appreciate your thinking of me. I have read a little of

the info, but just haven't had time to get to all of it.

I need to go now- got other things I need to be doing.

Sincerely,
