New update, the Neurologist was in finally & spent at least 1/2 hr on

Jerry. He had been called in last time Jerry was in the hospital but

never had a chance to see him as he is only there 1 day a week,

Wednesdays. He said he is not to leave til at least he returns next

week & has booked him for 3 tests, 1 MRI with dye, 1 special MRI on

neck arteries & a EEC (I think) which reads the brain waves which isn't

done here so it will havce to be booked in Hamilton. At least now

Jerry is getting somewhere toward the road to recovery.

When I was married in 1992, my then husband had a boy with autism, whom he

had custody of. When I needed a dentist for him, I looked in the phone book

for demist that specialized in children. I had to call a few but found one

who dealt with children with autism. I do know that some autistic children

need to go a few times before actually getting the dental work done so they

can get comfortable. With my stepson, we just couldn't take him and expect

him to react like other children. Change in their daily routine isn't easy

for them. I hope that helps.

I was talking to a lady and she has a child with autism, and she was

telling me that she had to take her son to the dentist. But she wanted

someone that dealt with Autism. If anyone has any suggestions, I told

her I would ask around. Please do pass on your suggestions, and I will

gladly pass them onto her.

Thanks you so much.

My son has Aspergers which is on the upper scale of autism. What I normally do before he sees any new dr is to explain ahead of time that he has Aspergers, what it entails and if they are set up for that type of patient. In most cases, he does pretty well but has real problems with eye contact and speaking up in a public situation. His pediatrician is the best..sits down and talks to him at his level and explains everything..rather then talking to me. Terri B
