Last year I dismantled tore down etc the house I had lived in for 20 some years. I remain at this same property, but the old thing had quite wore out. I " kept " all the copper pipes, etc. I recycled many things from the house but haven't yet passed on to recycling the copper. I hail from a place that used to have a " slug festival " for years and unfortunately changed it to the annual blackberry festival. The Slug festival got the only entry into USA today I've ever seen for Elma Washington. I use a lot of wood ash from my wood stove, but this wetness this year has rendered the slugs particularly bountiful. They're juice is good for a campfire burn and that's the best thing I can say. They are tenacious. How do you use the copper wire? Detail this one for me please. I do get relief from slug houses, which is just two pieces of beveled wood like a roof stapled, nailed, screwed or glued together with slug bait underneath. The birds/ animals don't bother it, but the slug harvest is good. copper wire would last a lot longer than the wood ashes do, and I actually begrudge spending cash on commercial slug bait for the slug houses. If you grow in beds simply attach a course of copper wire around each bed; this however will also keep slugs inside who are already there so be sure they're slug free first. If you grow in rows, put copper wire around the things you want to protect (like your nice heads of broccoli or your tomato plants), like in a square or something. Gardening stores also sell copper " tape " which works nicely, but regular old copper wire works fine and is cheaper.
