Superior Extra/Super Extra/or Extra is the first draw during the 1.55- 2 hours then comes First Second then Third. The distillers were selling the extra and sometimes the first, but weren't getting a market for the Second and Third. Sometime in the 50's one of the French distillers decided to do a " Complete " distillation which is a complete distillation with no Fractionalization. the problem was it was a little pricey, although the best kind of Complete. More often now a Complete is a specialized mix of a very little Extra, some First, Second and Third. Each distiller having their own recipe on how they mix it. So one Complete rarely smells the same distiller to distiller. additionally with Completes, according to literature (Not my personal experience),it is easy to adulterate a complete with other less expensive oils or synthetics. If you go to White Lotus,or click on this link, there is a great newsletter referencing the work of Guenther on Ylan ylang, and the process: http://www.whitelotusaromatics.com/newsletters/ylangupdate.html Hope that helps, and you can thank Anya and her Perfumery Class for my knowledge...I have to present a paper this afternoon, so have been reading ALOT! Great class! Lynn
