Did you know, you experienced perfumers that there are 3 sorts of

Enfleurage ? Just found this information in a book and on internet

The process is a bit different, and so the tools

Cold Enfleurage cold: recover of flowers a layer of fat arranged

formerly in ceramic plates) and, since the beginning of the XIXth

century, on both faces of a " frame " - rectangular window inserted

into a wooden frame - device invented at the beginning of the last

century by a grassois, mister Théas. Use this process for the jasmine

and the tuberose.

Hot Enfleurage: flowers soak in some melted fat. This process is

mainly used for the rose, the cassie, the violet, and petit grain.

With the pommade we can make the absolute " absolved from the

chassis " when is obtained with cold process and " pommade

absolute " when obtained under hot process.

Oil Enfleurage: flowers are placed on cottons filled with oil, folded

and arranged on grid chassis.The fragrant oil is then extracted from

the cloth left by pressing, left to the volatile solvents. An

alcoholic wash of this fragrant oil allows to extract " concentrated

of oil " . It is so for example that we make " concentrate of jasmine

in the oil " .
