Guest guest
Hello All, I just got off the phone from speaking with Bourbonais in the hospital. He's sounding great. He's in great spirits. They keep him in physical therapy nearly all day every day (so he's probably going to be Arnold Schwarzenegger when he gets out <G>). He said that his doctors all had a conference today and that the prognosis is 3-6 weeks before he gets out of the hospital. I asked him if the food is okay, and he said he can't complain too much except that there's no pizza. (I'll be sending him my recipe for healthy, easy pizza crust when he gets home.) We talked a bit about the symptoms he had, and our reluctance, at least here in America, to go to the ER, and our silly propensity for trying to " walk it off " instead, in case it's a false alarm. I have permanent heart damage from responding that way to my heart attack. So I can't stress enough -- if you have something wonky going on with your body, pay attention. Ask questions. If nothing else, call a nurse hotline and ask them about what you're experiencing. and I both had a little voice in the back of our heads telling us exactly what was happening when it started happening, and we both told the back of our minds to shut up. Bad idea. I'm just so glad that 's alive and on the mend. As I told him, he's safer now, (and will be from here on out) than he was at the time of the stroke. Now it's on the radar screen and he and the medical folks will be more aware of his condition. And hopefully, this won't happen to him again. He's a wonderful and quirky member of our group and I have always loved his posts and ramblings. I truly enjoy the OT stuff that he adds that gives us a well-rounded picture of . Anyway, I'm just tickled to hear him sounding great and to know he's doing a fantastic job of getting his head around this and that he's on the mend. Sorry this is a long post...
