Hello Mar,

Wow -- it's great that folks have the old myrtle. The more modern

stuff is what I have (I inherited it), and while it's lovely to look

at, it's sealed up tight with probably some form of polyurethane. So

there is no smell, unfortunately. It would probably take a LOT of

sanding to get past the wood that's permeated with that stuff, sadly.

And this is the first I've heard of them distilling the oil back

when. Sounds very intriguing... : ) Now I'm wondering what the older

oil smells like now. Could be really nice right about now, if it ages

as well as some other distilled wood oils... Cool!
