With cedar closets we were told to sand them lightly to restore their scent. Any similar custom with these furnishings? The more modern stuff is what I have (I inherited it), and while it's lovely to look at, it's sealed up tight with probably some form of polyurethane. So there is no smell, unfortunately. It would probably take a LOT of sanding to get past the wood that's permeated with that stuff, sadly. And this is the first I've heard of them distilling the oil back when. Sounds very intriguing... : ) Now I'm wondering what the older oil smells like now. Could be really nice right about now, if it ages as well as some other distilled wood oils... Cool!
