I find the same issue initially with 190 proof grape alcohol... wait

about a week and smell it again. I'm always amazed at how it changes

in that time. The strong alcohol scent should mellow, and your blend

should come through. You may have to shake the concoction though, as

your amber probably won't blend completely in the 40% alcohol. Good luck!

I have been given some aged aguardente (similar to grappa) with 40 % alcohol.

Is anybody triple filtering with say a Brita-style charcoal system? A friend was

assured by a vodka maker that this was the only difference between the higher

priced and the lower priced. I'm wondering if the filtering doesn't improve that

raw scent.

Me I like to blend into mescal and hope that the smoky scent lingers.

Hi Rose,

Thanks!

I guess I just have to wait and see. (patience!!!!! :0))

It does have a nice cognac sort of scent with anise. Over here they

drink this stuff(firewater) after coffee!!! It is so strong!

Today, I sense a bit of amber in the blend!
