Guest guest
Hi folks, I've been reading your posts, and I must be the exception. I've been on ssdisability for 6 years and I have been off work five and a half years. I was approved in 3 months and the waiting period was 5 months. My dr. said ir is all in the way the forms are filled out. He said that he had to write like I was going to pass tomorrow. From all I've heard I guess he was right.I would love to work part time but it would mean I would not have ins. and I can't work full time for the ins. So I'll just keep on keepin on. Guest guest
I think it has a lot to do about how you fill out the forms. I made the mistake of filling my own out at the SS office with their people helping me..........DO NOT DO THIS......then I got denied 2 times and went about getting a lawyer......and because I originally got my SS no in NY state and worked there .....my records were shipped all over the country for almost a year .........tell me SS doesnt have an agenda......And so in that year's time while they were un locatable .......I got worse as far as more treatments, more often, and less mobility w/o pain....so when the 1st lawyer got the records nothing had been added for a YEAR........so he said I needed to find another lawyer as they wouldnt go w/o some changes. I went home in tears with my files (1st lawyer gave me copies (about 6 inches worth)for free) , called another lawyer whose asst asked if my dr would state I was in capable of holding a job etc...I said yes ...he said come in...I did ..he changed my date of onset by 3 months and gathered all those files from drs, school(I was going fulltime and had gone fromstraight A to C student cos of pain and meds )and psych and then he refiled........and that was April of 98 and got it in DEC 98 ...paid back to 96 .....and got both A and B medicare immediately...... My lawyer and his father are in business as SS lawyers in same building as the hearing rooms..........his dad used to be an administrative judge for SS...so these 2 knew what to get and how to get it done. The day of my hearing I was afraid cos my lawyer was in with thee case before me for 1 and a half hours.......and it ran me late ..so I thought it was going to be horrible for me......but we finally went in and I swear it was 15 minutes later and we were out of there. The judge only asked my name, address , age, and asked their dr (he was 90yrs old)a couple questions........and my lawyer why date was changed ...then we left. It wasnt till we were outside walking out my lawyer said congrats...and I should get money in 2 months. My lawyer got only 4000. for his share........his contract was for 25% or 4000. whichever is less and I got almost $35000. for me and my kids back pay.......so it does pay ....as with WC which I did many yrs ago for carpal tunnel .....some things work through the system better with a lawyer ...sad but true .......I am just so grateful we have something like SS to fall back onto ...........JUdy in AZ

Guest guest
I also, was an exception in being qualified for SS. I've been on iSS for 2 yrs., in fact went to Medicare December 22, 2001. I only had a 6 mo. time lapse from the time I applied and the time I received my first check. but my sister in law it took her 2 years to get her approval and she looked in worse shape than I. We also used the same Dr. for our arthritis. So, go figure.... Anyway though I'd put in my 2 cents worth. Be Blessed, Becky
Guest guest
Hi Becky, I have been trying for almost 6 years. I have been waiting for almost a year and a half for a court hearing. Yet I know someone who got it over the phone, the first interview. I think everyone is different plus were you live could make a difference. `Hope you are having a good day, Lynn ---------- > From: MaBeck742@... > > Subject: Re: [ ] applying for ss: I must be the exception > Date: Friday, February 15, 2002 3:57 PM > > I also, was an exception in being qualified for SS. Guest guest
Why wouldn't you have insurance if you worked part time? Medicare still is in effect if you work part time, at least that was what I was told when I worked part time while on disability. I too was approved right away, so I was very lucky. I think you're right, it depends on the doctor. a gambler4402@... wrote: > Hi folks, > I've been reading your posts, and I must be the exception. > I've been on ssdisability for 6 years and I have been off work five and a > half years. > I was approved in 3 months and the waiting period was 5 months. > My dr. said ir is all in the way the forms are filled out.
