Hello everyone!

I am guilty, I have been getting mail from this wonderful group for a couple

of weeks now, but I have been in such horrible pain, I have not felt like

typing.

So now it is time for me to introduce myself......

My name is . I live in Oregon. I am 46 years old. I have RA and

also fibro and IC.

My RA is real bad right now. I was dxed with it two years ago.

I am on methrotrate, predisone, mobic, and folic acid. I just started the

mobic today. Has anyone ever been on mobic? So far it has made me

sleepy. I hope it doesnt make me any more sleepy than I am, now, as

I am a home daycare provider, and need to be alert.

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Soft Hugs,

Welcome! I'm new here, and an Oregonian, too! I'm sorry you're going

through such a bad flare. I'm not familiar with the new med you're

on...I just started Remicade last week.

I hope things get better for you soon.

With Hope...

HI Tess!

Thanks for the welcome! How are you doing on the remicade? My Dr said

that he may have me try it if this mobic does not help me. I hope

that something works, I hope to get off of the predisone as it

makes me gain so much weight.

Where in Oregon are you? I live in Gladstone. Do you know where

that is?

Soft hugs, <><

Hi ,

Many or our members are on Mobic, all with different reactions. I myself am

also on it about a month. I have not noticed the sleepiness, I just don't

see where it helps a whole lot. I see my rheumy next week and will discuss

it with him then. The sleepiness may just be your body trying to adjust to

something new, but I agree that with the little people that you care for,

sleepiness is not something that you can afford.

Hope the side effects subside for you and you get some relief.

HI Debs!

Thanks for the info on Mobic. I do notice that today I do feel alittle

better. I

have alot of burning, and it seems to have taken some of the burning away. I

am hoping that I can get off of predisone all together, as I have said that

it

has made me gain so much weight. I know that it does increase your appitite,

but I do think that it does make a person retain fluid also, because I try

to

watch what I eat, and I keep gaining.

Are you on predisone? It really works wonders, but I am tired of the

weight gain, and I am worried about what damage it can cause by

taking it for long periods.

I was on 60 mg, now I am down to 20mg a day. last year I was able to

mantain on only 5mg with the metrotraxate, but it seems that my RA is

getting worst for some reason.

Hoping that we all have a pain free day today!

Hugs, <><

HI Tess!

Do you feel worst when it is raining, or hot? I feel worst when

it is raining when the temp is higher than say in the 40s. Or if

it is foggy. Now last week when it was colder and we were

having our snow, I was feeling somewhat better. Which

makes no sence to me.

Looking forward to pain free days for all of us!

Hugs, <><

Hi ,

Yep, I am on the prednisone also. I also gained about 80 lbs since March 01

when I had pneumonia and very bad asthma attack. They had me up to 80 mg 3 x

a day, YIKES! I was Sybil with an eating disorder! I was on IV fluids only

while I was in the hospital and came home looking like a Macy's Day Parade

Balloon. It was horrible. I have dropped some of the weight but at

Christmas they upped the prednisone again to 40 mg a day and am trying to

come down from that. I was put on Mobic after the higher dosage of Celebrex

caused an exacerbation of the lupus symptoms. In addition to the mtx I also

take Enbrel twice a week. And as a bonus from the high doses of prednisone,

I developed diabetes. Yeah, the hits just keep on coming!!!!

Don't get discouraged and try to have a good weekend.......

Hi ...I seem to feel worse whenever the weather changes...so in NW

Oregon it's a bit of a rollercoaster! The psoriasis (I have psoriatic

arth. as well as RA) is MUCH better in the summer. The methotrexate has

a good effect on the psoriasis, too, but it has never gone away. I have

so much of it on my scalp right now...despite the metho, med. shampoo,

diprolene creme...my (very thick) hair was half-way down my back and I

had it cut to the nape of my neck today, hoping that will take some

pressure off my scalp. Well, there's my 'whine' with dinner!!!

Hope & Hugs...

Tess
